Individual Project 2
FINAL OUTCOME
FILMING CONCEPT
The concept is to mix together music and fashion in a literal way but enhance the production using the Virtual Production screen with controlled visuals using Resolume. The idea was to use visuals that take on a fast paced Dystopian crossed with Sci-Fi feel to compliment the fast paced guitar music. The artist who goes by the name ‘Death in Musica’ will stand front and centre while a variety of models dressed in a cross between grunge and high fashion parade in a figure of eight, their visual personalities going from prim and proper to full on screaming in his direction, being very un-model-like, then smiling. The final export will use a combination of wide shots for the screen visuals, close ups on the guitarists face, the models and the guitar itself with added 2D graphics over the top and glitch effects added in post-production.

PRE-PRODUCTION
The idea for a film was developed. There were no scripts just a concept with supportive moodboards and an original song by an artist who was willing to take part on the day. A model was sourced and briefed beforehand on clothing and what was expected of her, how to walk and behave on camera. The visuals were sourced and edited, then tested the week prior on the stage and withe the Resolume software.

PRODUCTION
The team was briefed on the day on what we were aiming to achieve. The stage was built and the speaker monitors were put in place. The files were laoded to Resolume and the track was enabled to play as a background source of inspiration for the guitarist and model. The smoke machine was setup and filming commenced. The main camera was used without the motion tracking as no 3D environment. A number of shots were completed with hand held cameras using th stage as a visual background. The Resolume software had an operator as did the smoke and lighting throghtout.
POST-PRODUCTION
All the files were edited down to a final video with mutilple overlays and colourisation in Adobe Premiere Pro.
MY PART
I took the role of Visual Art Director for this project. I visualised and created the overall concept and supportive moodboards. I sourced the model for the shoot and arranged for the srtist to ccome in on the day w=and the kit we would need for staging. I sourced and edited all the visuals for the screens, tested them the week before and uploaded these to Resolume for the shoot. I briefed the teams as to the overall concept and vision and briefed the model. Primary filming was undertaken by the director with handheld camera. I did operate the main camera just without the motion tracking as ther was no 3D involved. I assisted with building the stage, carrying the kit and setup of the smoke machine. As the shoot continued I operated Resolume for parts of it, directed parts of the shoot and operated the smoke machine. Once finished I took all files and composited and edityed the final video using Premiere Pro.

REFLECTION
Overall the shoot was a success. I learned that a good briefing of all involved and good support was important. The team brought of their different skills and it was important to let them use them on the day from directing to lighting. It was importtant to think quickly as time progressed. We shot for a couple of hours but that does not equate to good usable footage. I was aware of this fact going in but still feel more was needed and multiple versions for freedom in post-production. I thought more models would have been willing to be part of the process but the Friday afternoon timing played a part on that. the model we did get from the acting department was very helpful and played her part well. the moodboards helped with that. This was six weeks in and i wanted to shoot somehign dymanic which I did. the model side of the idea is as this will lead onto fashion catwalk shoots in the future and it was a good experience getting a shoot under my belt.
